Description
This year's Coat and Toy Drive will benefit the Native American families from the Lakota tribe in Kyle, South Dakota (Pine Ridge Reservation).
While the spirit and heart of the Lakota people and their traditions are rich, the community is monetarily poor. In fact, it is the second poorest county in the U.S. The unemployment rate is between 70-80% and the average household income is $1,500 - $5,000 per year.
Clothes: Needed items include clean coats, hats and gloves
Toys: Please donate new, wrapped toys and mark them by gender / age (i.e. Boy 8-10, Girl 3-4)
Dates: Donations will be accepted through December 9, 2009
