Swedish Massage (Also Known as Wellness Massage, Relaxation Massage)

Swedish Massage is a technique designed to promote relaxation.  It is the most popular form of massage in the United States and massage therapists generally develop their unique style of massage based on these massage strokes that were developed in the 1700’s by Dr. Per Henrik Ling.

There are 5 main strokes that are generally delivered in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart (with out increasing heart load).  The primary goal of Swedish Massage is to increase circulation thus bringing in vital nutrients and removing waste products that cause pain and stiffness.  Swedish Massage also stretches ligaments and tendons increasing flexibility and range of motion.

While Swedish Massage has many specific uses, we highly recommend that it is incorporated into your stress management program.  Swedish Massage is geared toward people of all age groups.
